ORDER OF MERIT
How Points Are Awarded
The Tour Fore Golfers Order of Merit is our season-long points race designed to recognise both consistent participation and strong performances across the year. Points are awarded at every event and the leaderboard is updated after each round so golfers can track their progress throughout the season.
How points are earned at each event
Your Order of Merit score for an event is made up of two components: participation points and performance points.
Participation points
Every golfer who starts an event receives 10 participation points. These points acknowledge the commitment of players who regularly support the tour and ensure the leaderboard rewards consistency across the season.
Performance points are awarded based on finishing position. Points are allocated to the top 40 finishers in each event, with 1st place receiving the highest points and then decreasing through the placings to 40th place. Golfers finishing outside the top 40 will still receive their 5 participation points.
Field size adjustment (to keep things fair)
As our fields vary from event to event, performance points are adjusted slightly to reflect the size of the field on the day. In simple terms, strong results in larger fields earn slightly more points than the same placing in a smaller field.
This adjustment applies only to performance points. Participation points are not adjusted.
Ties
If two or more golfers tie for a placing, each golfer receives the Order of Merit points allocated to that placing.
Leaderboard updates
The Order of Merit leaderboard is published and updated after every event (see below). Golfers can follow their season-long progress and see how the standings change across the year.
Indicative placing table (before field-size adjustment)
To help golfers understand how points are structured, the table below shows the base performance points awarded by finishing position. Please note that these performance points are then adjusted using the field-size factor for the event. All starters also receive 5 participation points.

If a golfer finishes 4th, their base performance points are 68. Those points are then adjusted using the event’s field-size factor, and finally the 5 participation points are added.
Why we use this system
The Order of Merit is built to strike a balance between rewarding loyal participation and recognising outstanding results. It keeps the race competitive across the full season and ensures that every event matters.
